I'm in India!!!

Hello!

As soon as I step outside to walk down the street what do I see?? A whole herd of cows walking down the road!

I go to go to the toilet and there's a toilet paper holder but no toilet paper, I look on the other side and there's like this water gun thing and I'm like oh no. You'd be my favourite person if you sent toilet paper!

I go to have a shower and it looks like a normal shower, has a shower head and everything but then I look down and there's a bucket and a smaller bucket inside it and I'm like ahhh. So I turn on the tap and it just turns on this little tap at the bottom to fill up the bucket with water so yeah, I shower from a bucket.

It's pretty blazing hot outside and I see Elder Kneeland everywhere and the first day I saw him he was just dripping with sweat and then he's next to his companion which doesn't have a drop of sweat on him and was saying that he was even getting cold and wanted to turn the fans off at home. It's funny because Elder Kneeland can't swim and he's like I'm going to drown from my own sweat haha.

I'm super thankful that we have air con in our apartments! I would die without it!

Me and the Elders were the first internationals President and his wife picked up. They said when they were at the Mission Presidents training an apostle spoke to them and said there's a very big screening process for those going to India because it's very physically demanding. Apparently I'm a good fit for that? He said that he only gave them five missionaries but that those five are the best of the best. Yay!!!

I was teaching a little message with someone and then as I'm mid-sentence he's like your eyes are so shiny! What colour are they? haha a lot of people like my eyes here because everyone just has dark brown eyes.

My favourite thing ever is that there's this song that plays and when you hear it you know they're selling popcorn!!!! It's like the ice cream man only better!

I'm confused most of the time. Like yeah, people speak English but it might not be very good and they prefer Hindi. Everyone keeps telling me that I have to learn it and that it would make life so much easier but it's so hard! everything I learn I forget straight away! So I just kinda sit there in lessons not really sure what's going on and then I might share a little thought or something and my trainer will translate it if she needs to and so yeah it's very simple stuff. I just kinda smile all the time coz I don't know what's going on and it works! A lady said that my smile is very nice haha.

We stayed out later one night as the Elders needed us for an appointment and we were riding in an auto and Elder Mekala (AP) was like there are lots of mobs in this area and that's why there's also police patrolling here. Then when we were walking to the house, they told us to take our tags off coz people will snatch us if we wear them. They said to keep a low profile and if anyone asks say we teach English. We had a member with us and they said to say she was our friend who invited us here as you aren't allowed here unless you know someone. This is night time right and I was like eeekk. It was all a joke though. Elder Mekala thinks he's so funny. Apparently, there are some places we need to take our tags off though.

Milk comes in this like plastic bag packet thing and I'm like well this is different and they're all confused because that's the only way they know milk to come.

I'm going to have two trainers because my trainer goes home soon. Apparently that's never happened here before.

I had Maccas and I had a McSpicy! It kinda tastes like the spicy KFC chicken. The only thing I recognise on the menu is the McChicken. So I'm happy!

I'm in an apartment with four sisters right next to the mission home and they're all Indian so they all just cook for me and it's so tasty! Haven't perfected the whole eating with hands thing yet but I'm close!

Another one of Elder Mekala's jokes. We were at members home and I was saying I like Bhuja Mix and he just laughed and said that's not how you say it and he told me how to say it and I was like aw okay that sounds kinda similar. He told me to tell the member I like Bhuja mix and so I did and the member just laughed. Apparently I said I like brain mix.

Elder Mekala... again. He told me Saturday that the bishop said I had a talk on Sunday and I was like fair enough, that's what happens. Later when I got home I was like ahh I've gotta prepare a talk then my trainer was like you don't actually have a talk and I was like what! I can't believe anything Elder Mekala says.

My first day and I already had a baptism coming up for Sunday! Yay! that was so good!

People are so considerate of bikes in the rain. They always slow down and try not to make a splash which means I never get splashed by massive puddles which are everywhere!!!

Also, I can't send photos on these computers otherwise it'll corrupt my camera so not sure what I'll do about that one.

Unfortunately, I don't have all day to write everything so that's it for now!

Until next week,
Love Sister Watts
