Hello!!
We have been focusing a lot on re-activating the members in Vasant Vihar as pretty much all the members in our area are less active. It's slow work but we are seeing the results! We had four less actives come to church on Sunday! One member came to church by himself after five years when his active son didn't even come with him. It made me so happy seeing these people and families come again unto Christ. I feel that as well as finding new people to teach it is also very important to reach out and strengthen the member's faith also as baptising people is pointless if they don't continue to build their relationship with Heavenly Father and endure to the end. All it took for a lot of these people was just having someone reach out and show that they are remembered, loved, cared for and needed to help build up the church and hasten the work. I truly believe that we can't do this work without the members by our sides.
One evening we tried to find a less active and we ran into this guy out front of the less actives home we were trying to find and he was holding an Australian high commission mug so I struck up a conversation with him and apparently he joined the church ten years ago but has since become less active as his father was disapproving of the church. He asked us if we still partake of the sacrament and it sounded like he had some really fond memories in the church as he said that he made some good friends there. You could see all of these memories flooding back to his memory and even though he didn't want to meet with missionaries again we hope that talking with us stirred up feelings of the spirit to his heart again and you never know what could happen down the track. The less active we were trying to find didn't live there anymore but I feel that this was the less active we needed to meet that day.
Some days are really tiring, walking around on your feet all day and this one night I was just like my legs are dead I can't walk anymore. My companion felt the same and since there's nowhere to sit we just crouched down on the ground. You have no idea how much relief that gave even though it was only for a minute! People thought we were a little strange and probably wondering what we were doing but oh well haha
We had two people find us this week!
The first was Nishant and we were just walking down the street and then he stopped us and asked if we were missionaries. He said that our badges really stand out. He told us that his sister is involved with our church and that it interests him. He's not in our area so I referred him to Elders where he's living and he's been able to meet with them already which is awesome! When we met I also asked him if he knew anyone else that might be interested and his face lit up as he explained that he was some sort of trainer for over 700 people so he knew lots of people he could refer us too!
The second was Dharm and we were looking for someone's house and didn't know where it was and i think he could see we were a little lost so he came over and helped us out. We then started talking about the church and he was interested to learn more about it so we referred him to Elders in his area. He said that he's visited our church once before and he loves talking with missionaries as they make him feel really happy and good inside.
A lot of the people we find aren't in our area so we aren't able to teach them but we are just happy to help the person know where they can find the truth and happiness they are searching for. As missionaries, we are all united as we are all working with the same purpose which is to help others come unto Christ.
