HAPPY EASTER!!! 22/04/19

Hello!!!

Last Monday we went to this step well in CP which was just this old kinda architectural building with lots of steps but it still looked cool!

We had Zone conference on Thursday which was fun! I'm back in West Zone again! I used a fire extinguisher for the first time! President wanted us all to learn how to use a fire extinguisher so we all got to go up to the roof of the building and use one! That was cool. President made some people uncomfortable in their seats as he set the standards of the mission straight which was probably the best thing about conference haha.

We were waiting at a bus stop and i was like come on let's just go there's no bus coming. Sister Meenakshi was like no we'll wait for two more minutes. So we waited and within those two minutes two guys came up to me and started talking, surprisingly they thought i was Indian and that i was Punjab which i can't say i get a lot. They spoke among themselves and i was like what language is that? It was Persian which i thought was very cool! They are Muslim but they said if we came to their house they would make all this amazing food like kebabs! they even said to come over and share an hour gospel message which was like yes that's awesome. Not in our area but i hope the Elders have the best of luck with them and get to eat delicious kebabs!

We had an Easter activity in Laj Pat which the missionaries put on. I had never been to that church before and it's so cute! It's like a little cottage! But a fancy one haha. The activity was pretty cool, each companionship had a different room which they had to set up. There was the palm Sunday, last supper, Gethsemane, Crucifixion, the empty tomb and the Resurrection. Each room looked like each scene and then groups of people went through each room and we talked about what happened and set the scene and showed a movie of that event. It was the one thing that helped me remember it was Easter. They don't do anything here, no Easter bunnies or Easter egg hunts which is sad.

Attacked by water balloons! 15/04/19

Hello!!

This seems to happen a lot but my companion Sister Dorairaj is in Bihar so for 12 days i am back with Sister Meenakshi (I trained her for one transfer).

The miracle of this week is that it was really hot on Wednesday and I had just called Elder Nielson to talk about some members in our area and he knew that i was exchange with Sister Mungamuri  (My first exchange as an STL) and so what he did was he sent a text later in the morning saying that he found a referral for us and he sent us her address because she doesn't have a phone number and said that she wants to meet us at 4. We were like okay great so we rock up at the apartment and we are trying to figure out how to get in and we get another text from Elder Nielson asking us where we were and i was like we are at the door. Then what happens is we look up and and there's Elder Nielson, Kneeland, Bedont and Sekar hanging over the balcony and they start throwing water balloons at us and we are like what! Turns out this whole thing was a prank and they just lured us to their apartment so they could attack us with water balloons. It was fun though and it was great to get to cool down because it was such a hot day!

Also on exchange i saw someone holding a little baby bunny on the street and i was like aww and they noticed so they just handed me the bunny. It was cute and it looks like a kid drew on it's ears with pen haha.

Exciting news! WE ARE FINALLY GETTING SMARTPHONES!!!!! It's super awesome and it'll make life so much easier! We should be getting them by the end of May so it'll kinda be like my birthday present haha.

We watched General Conference this past weekend which was awesome! I always love watching conference! A few quotes from my favourite talks were:
"God knows the end from the beginning"  - Brok P. Hales
"Have the faith to strike the match and light the fire" - Dale G. Renlund
"While we are waiting on the Lord we can see immediate blessings" - Kyle S. McKay

Playing tug of war with a beggar. 08/04/19

Hello!!!

There are these safety videos which all the missionaries have to watch and President is able to see who has seen them or not and I think there are only like one or two missionaries that have actually watched them because they're just kinda pointless for our mission. It's all about not crossing busy roads, always look left and right and we're like really it doesn't matter what we do there's always gonna be a ton of traffic on the road and no matter which way you look there's gonna be vehicles coming for you! It would be awesome if we got to make our own safety videos for India!

Our main mode of transport now is the metro and at the Janak Puri West metro station, they have the tallest escalator in all of India! It's 15.65m tall which is equivalent to a five storey building. I'm lucky enough to get to ride it nearly every day!

We were on the metro one day and there was a lady next to us watching grey's anatomy on her phone. Sister Dorairaj started talking to me about the show and the lady watching it could hear so she started talking to us about the show too. We got to introduce ourselves and what we do and she was totally into the work we do for others. This is what we call TV show finding haha.

I had my first MLC on Tuesday which was cool getting to see the inside workings of how decisions about the mission and everything is made. Plus we got given lunch!

There was a beggar on some stairs which is usual as there are beggars everywhere you go here. I'm always a target for these people because they see white skin and they're like ooh you're rich! I try to have lollies in my bag that I'm able to give to kids and then they'll leave you alone. Anyway there was this beggar on the stairs and as I'm walking past her she grabs onto my skirt and won't let go and I'm like ahh Sister Dorairaj help me! I'm playing tug of war with this little old lady and for someone that's begging for money and supposedly has no strength, she sure had a really good grip. I was tugging with two hands and couldn't get free without ripping my skirt or tumbling down the stairs. Sister Dorairaj had to end up giving her money and she loosened her grip but still wanted more and I was like nope and grabbed my skirt back. We had to walk past this lady again and so I made sure I was as far away from her as possible. I'm never walking next to beggars again.

Last day of transfers and the Yadav family couldn't have me leaving without having lunch there.

They had bunnies!! So glad i got to see them before i left! I didn't want to leave them! They were the cutest and tiniest little things ever!!! Their names are honey and bunny!

Janakpuri Home group. 01/04/2019

Hello!!

My area is Janakpuri and it's just a homegroup so I went from three-hour church to two-hour church to just one hour church! There are just 22 people in the group. The home group leader is just 22 which I thought was so young! I got to say my very first prayer in sacrament meeting on Sunday so it was a historical day attending my first home group and saying my first prayer. On the first Sunday of every month, we combine with Dwarka ward.

I'm in the Dwarka district now and I went from a district of 4 to 9! Never been a district that big! I have my MTC mate Elder Kneeland as my district leader and Elder Bedont is in my district again!

There are four missionaries in Janakpuri. Me and my companion Sister Dorairaj then Elder Govindoraj and Elder Nielson. It's an awesome group and we don't have separate areas so we just go to all the appointments together which is super fun!

Our area is super far from where we live, it takes 45mins to an hour to get there! President is looking for an apartment for us to be closer to our area which would be super helpful!

It's Summer again! I was hoping it would never come but it did and it's the worst. I'm thankful for the gift of aircon though!

Oh yeah and last Tuesday I completed 9 months of my mission! I'M HALFWAY THROUGH MY MISSION!!!!! It's super crazy and I can't believe it! Time goes by way too fast and I definitely don't feel like I've been out for that long at all.
