Hello!!!
This week was awesome! I don't remember the last time I was this happy and enjoyed being a missionary so much!!
Honestly, it's all due to this focus on the Book of Mormon during finding! We wanted to know what the record was in our mission for the most Book of Mormon's handed out in a week so we called the Zone leaders to find out and they said it sounds like that scene in the best two years when they ask what the record is so then we were like well what is the record in the best two years. The record was 62 so we decided that we would beat that record and hand out 63 Book of Mormon's from Thursday until Sunday. I thought it was a pretty crazy high goal but I had the faith that it was possible and I could see the Lord's help every step of the way in achieving our goal. One day we handed out 20 Book of Mormon's and 15 in just 45mins! We ended Sunday night by exceeding our goal and handing out 67 Book of Mormon's!!! It was the most exciting thing ever and now I love setting goals and talking to people on the street isn't even a little bit scary anymore! Also, Elder Miles said he'd buy us all maccas if we achieved our goal so I was sure to call him and put my order in for three large McChicken meals with sprite! He was very shocked but so proud of us!
Saturday night was when we achieved our goal and it was the same day that we found out we can now call home to our families every p-day so we were just jumping up and down and it was the most exciting and happy day ever!!
I'm super fancy nowadays and so last Monday we went into the American embassy just to play basketball. I never play basketball but it was actually a lot of fun and me and my companions had a really great time!!
While door knocking this week we went to this house and there were these three dogs inside the gate which wasn't even closed and I was like oh they're harmless just lying there like they're probably just like the street dogs that wander around everywhere here. Well as soon as I start to open the gate they come running at us barking and growling and I was like eekk and so I quickly closed the gate but it didn't lock and we started to walk away but then they get out and follow us and I just wanted to run but Sister Dorairaj was like no don't run and held me back. It was the scariest thing of my life having these gnarling dogs behind us who I thought where going to tear us into shreds. So now when I see dogs in a house I'm not entering no matter how friendly they look! Funny thing as well though because we saw those dogs again later and they were so placid and I was like what is your problem.
I've also wondered why when we are door knocking we always say no when people offer us water so I talked to my companions and I said next time someone offers us the water we need to say yes. So someone offered us water and my companions both said no but I said yes. We got our water and we were able to stay and talk to this guy for a while, in the meantime his mum also came home and invited us inside. We were able to have a really good talk with his guy, his mum and his dad who came home too. Initially when he first saw us at the door he wasn't interested in hearing from us but in the end, he gave us a return appointment so now my motto is never say no to water!
Also while door knocking we found a lady and she gave us a cake! I didn't last for very long haha
I love coconuts!! They are everywhere on the side of the street and you just go up and you can either have just coconut water or the coconut flesh too and it's just the greatest thing seeing them cut up these fresh coconuts which taste so good!!
One day we were going to do findings in sector 12 but my mind kept thinking about sector 13 so I said we need to go there today. When we were walking through there I saw a motorbike with weird writing on it and I said hey that looks cool what language is that. Sister Srinivasan said it was Kanadam and she got really excited because that's her language. We then found the house the bike belonged to and there was a family of three who invited us inside and were very kind and said whenever we were in the area to come and say hi and they would love to hear from us again. The father has also been to Australia and he gave me a key-chain with the Sydney opera house on it haha it was funny to get something from Australia from an Indian. It was a great connection for all of us getting to meet this family! I just love the spirit and seeing it guide our days as we are willing to follow it.
With love,
Sister Watts
