Sunny family's baptism!

Hello!!

There is this brother named Kamlesh that me and Sister Badde found and we were never able to meet with him again. Then one day he recognised me on the street and said hi, from that we were able to get an appointment with him the next day and we have already been able to meet him twice this week! Heavenly Father has a timing for everything.

They've moved Olivia! I went to go there but it was alltorn down and i was like noooooo. I think it's just moving somewhere else though but the other location is so much smaller. Kho bath nai.

There was one day after an appointment this week were we were like where should we go. I had this thought come to me of this house i had remembered seeing on the way to a members home and on the door there was a cross which means they're a christian family so i thought hey let's go see who's there. We went and knocked on the door and there was a grandma with her two grandkids. At first she was like i'm busy but then my companion asked if she spoke tamil and she did! People love to find people that speak their own language here so after that she invited us in and was interested in hearing our message which her daughter came and joined in on too. She wants us to come back and we're excited to go back!

We had a relief society activity where we learnt how to knit! it was kinda fun once you know what you're doing but also kind of hard as we're expected to make sweaters by Christmas to wear to the ward Christmas activity. I don't know how we are expected to do that but let's just hope i'm not in that ward for Christmas haha no i never want to leave Munirka.

One of the people we're teaching named Satish gave us a referral of one of his friends Kaushik. Kaushik seems more prepared and ready to receive the gospel than his friend! He calls asking when we're going to meet him again, keeps his commitments, ask so many questions and he even looked up the mormon.org website on the calling card we gave him and ordered himself a Book of Mormon. He's super interested in the book and was asking how big it is, we said it was only 531 pages and he was like oh that's easy, that'll only take me a week to read. We were like wow that would be amazing if you did that!

I got to experience my first baptism of someone that i had actually taught and the feeling that day was so amazing!! I was absolutely overjoyed that Sanjay and Parul were able to be baptised and they're just so happy about it too! There was a great turnout from the ward to their baptism! I could definitely feel the love from the ward towards their newest members! Even President Hansen and his wife were there! I think i overheard him saying that he'd never seen this many at a baptism before. Yay!! Yash was supposed to get baptised on Sunday too but he was so scared of the water that he refused to do it. BUT! we're excited because Sanjay is able to receive the priesthood next week so we're going to have him baptise Yash next Sunday. I think he'll be a lot more comfortable with his dad baptising him and it'll be so special for Sanjay to be able to baptise his son.

Sunny family baptism!

I'm no longer a trainee!!

HELLO!

Last P-day we went to the zoo as a district and the zoo wasn't that great as you aren't allowed to take snacks inside and you have to pay to take a camera inside but other than that it was fun just going out with everyone. I was also asked for a lot of photos while in there which made me think that I was one of the attractions in the zoo. My favourite thing at the zoo was these bunch on wild monkeys and these little baby monkeys just playing around and they're so funny to watch!

Winter is coming which makes me so happy!!! It now gets cold as we ride back in the auto at night. I'll need to start carrying a cardigan around with me!

We had district council combined with Vasant Vihar last Tuesday and because the AP's are in our district they told everyone about transfers early! From last Thursday I am now finished with training!!! I'm now leading the area in Munirka with my new companion Sister Sasidhar! Sister Ramu is now with Sister Dorairaj in Vasant Vihar so we'll still all be in the same apartment except Sister Thyagarajan has moved to Laj Pat. The Munirka district the same except for Elder Bedont being traded out for a new Elder, Elder Millett is being trained by Elder Epuri. Elder Reiss left during transfers which were sad too.

I am loving my new companion! We get along so well! She is the sweetest! After she found out that she would be my companion they were at someone's house for dinner and they had Mac 'n' cheese. So she got the recipe and everyone was so shocked because she only loves Indian food and she's never followed a recipe before. She got the recipe and made it just for me and it tasted so good!

This week I learnt that as missionaries we aren't just here to teach lessons to the people but to really show the saviours love for them through us. It was a simple thing but we just went to someone's house that we're teaching on their birthday and brought a card and a cake to cut and sing happy birthday. It was a total surprise for her and she loved it so much as it doesn't seem like she celebrated her birthday in any way. We felt so good after leaving knowing that we had made her truly happy showing that we really care for her.

I absolutely loved general conference this weekend! Saturday morning was my favourite but I just feel like this whole conference was made just for me! It answered all my questions and filled me with such hope and motivation for my mission. I love our Prophet, Russell M. Nelson. Every time he got up to speak it brought a smile to my face and I know that he is called of God to help lead us in these Latter-days.

My oh my what a beautiful week 08/10/18

Hey hey!

Parrul, Sanjay's wife was never able to understand us when we spoke in English whenever we've been there but suddenly just a couple of days ago she has been able to understand everything we teach with such a deep understanding. She's now able to be an example to her husband who would usually have to translate and teach her. It's a miracle.

We went to their house for dinner on Sunday with the Smith's and their daughter who's visiting from America (her name is also Sister Watts!). When I last visited them I wasn't with Sister Ramu as we were on exchange and so when he saw her again he told her that I taught very well last time as I spoke very slow, loud, clearly and simply for him to understand. I have to be very conscious of how I say things here otherwise no one can understand my accent. I mean they still can't sometimes but just a little better than normal i guess. Anyway, in the lesson I kinda felt like I was repeating myself but hey it worked and it just proves that the spirit is the true teacher and shares exactly what they need to hear.

We were teaching a lesson to these new people we're teaching named James and Marylene. It got to the point where we were teaching about the apostasy while explaining the Restoration and then all the power suddenly went out and it was pitch black. We were like this is perfect, this is what the apostasy was like when the truth was no longer on the earth and the world was in spiritual darkness!

We went to teach them again and this time they gave us biscuits and Fanta. While we were having it, they did something I've never seen before! They dipped the biscuit into the Fanta! I was like what is this a thing? Apparently, everyone does it. I tried it and it's not too bad, just a little weird. Plus, unlike cookies and milk where you get crumbs in the bottom of the cup, any crumbs that get in the cup the Fanta just dissolves it!

Blessings! It was at the end of the day and we were at our last appointment before going home and I was so tired and hungry! Then Maria who we were visiting comes out with this cake and lassi (Milk/curd drink which is everywhere in lots of different flavors) for us! It was exactly what I needed!

Sister Ramu got a phone call on Saturday and the person was like is this Sister Ramu, my names Aastha and I’m at the church. We were both super confused and had no idea who she was, but we went to find out. Apparently, she had gotten one of our English fliers and looked up our church on Facebook and so she decided to go and visit the address of the church. She spoke to the security guard there and that's how she got Sister Ramu's name and our number. She's golden! She's so interested in learning everything about our church and wants to be baptised and become a Sister missionary like us. We are so blessed to have a person so ready to receive the gospel find us.

On Sunday we got a phone call from someone we've never met but who's number is saved in our phone from past missionaries more than a year ago! We went to visit Satish after church and we found out that someone had borrowed a lot of money from him and isn't returning it to him, so he thought to call us just so we could pray for him. He's this sweet young University student living by himself and we are so thankful that he remembered the missionaries so that we are able to now share this beautiful message of the gospel with him!

I felt and experienced so many blessings and miracles this week. It has been a very tiring but a very rewarding week!

Simran Massey's home for dinner!

Two P-days in one week! 01/10/18

HELLO!!!

So this week we have our normal P-day on Monday but then on Tuesday we have the Delhi Stake Premiere Cricket Match!!! All the wards have a team, even the missionaries! It's a whole day thing and they all have jersey's and it's at a massive cricket stadium and everything! It's going to be so much fun! So we don't really have a second P-day as we will be trying to talk to everyone and get as many referrals as possible but it's still going to be so much fun! The Sisters are the cheerleaders for the teams haha. Then we get to leave early at 4 and go to teach English class! I'm excited for a super fun day!

On Wednesday something happened which never happens! A guy recognized us as missionaries! We were just walking along the street on our way to an appointment and then this guy who was sitting on the side got up to get our attention and he asked if we were missionaries and asked what we do and where we come from and everything. It was super cool to have someone recognize us for a change. Probably because me walk up and down the same streets in Munirka all the time but still!

Elder Bedont and Elder Epuri had baptisms of two sisters on Saturday and they aren't fully there mentally but they are the sweetest girls ever! They were both scared of the water, so it took like an hour just to get one of them baptised but yay Gloria finally got baptised! Karen was too scared though, so she didn't get baptised that day but hopefully she's able to overcome her fear and get baptised soon!

Every fifth Sunday here all talks are given by missionaries so Elder Bedont talked about forgiveness, Sister Ramu about the Word of Wisdom and lucky me i got to speak about temples and conduct the music for sacrament meeting! At first you think a talk about temples is easy but then you realize you kinda have to change your angle as most people here have never been to the temple or are unable to make frequent visits there. The talk went well though!

I ate veggies with my hands for the first time on Sunday and it was just weird.

I asked my first person to be baptised this week! Brother Sanjay, his wife and son Yesh are finally going to be getting baptised! He would always say that he'll be baptised after one year so that he can learn as much as he can, and he said that he's already been baptised in another church but we were able to talk to him and now he sees the importance of not delaying your baptism and that it needs to be performed by someone holding the priesthood authority of God. They have been getting taught for a long time, so this is a super exciting time!!

They also have these adorable little kittens that are only a few weeks old and I got to hold one!
