Wasn't P-day just yesterday?

Hello!

Can't believe it's p-day again, feels like I had it just yesterday.

Last Monday we went to India gate with some Elders from Noida so got to see Elder Robison again. India gate is this big gateway thing and at night time it lights up with the Indian flag so that's pretty cool.
Me and Sister Ramu got a sketch of us together there and it is such a good drawing!
So many people asked us for selfies probably because we were with three white American Elders and Elder Robison says this sort of thing happens to him every single day.
There are these little mini motorbikes you can ride there so all the Elders got on one and had a race down the road and it was so funny until an Elder ran into a guy and knocked him off his bike and broke his mirror.

I gave my first district training this week on Preach My Gospel Ch 10. It was alright but what went really well was when Munirka and Vasant Vihar districts combined at the end and I had to do a game so I taught them all how to play fruit salad and everyone loved it and we had a lot of fun!
Elder Jorgenson taught English class that night and so he got me to teach everyone there how to play too haha.

Elder Webster went home this week and so that was sad. So now Elder Jorgenson has moved to Vasant Vihar district to be companions with Elder Saka and we got Elder Bedont from Malvya move into our district.

This week I was sitting in the room with just the fan on and my companion is like what you didn't turn on the ac and I was like wow I'm getting used to the heat and becoming an Indian.

We met this guy Khali for the first time and he's awesome! He's from Nigeria and he has so much faith and understanding.  We were meant to meet Khali again on Saturday at 5:30 but he didn't come to the church until 6:30 which was actually perfect because a baptism started at that time so he was able to come in and see that and it was after the baptism where we taught him and extended a baptismal invitation and he accepted! It was the first time I've been in a lesson and we asked someone to be baptised. It was such a good feeling and he couldn't stop smiling!

We went to meet with some people we're teaching named Maria and Subrata and I had only been there once before but I thought I knew the way, turns out I didn't exactly know the way so we went a wrong way but I don't think it was really the wrong way because Sister Ramu met someone she knew and who was interested in the gospel so we were able to get his number and an appointment to meet him. We found Maria and Subrata's house after that and she made me popcorn because she remembered that I love popcorn! She also came to church on Sunday which was super great!

On Sunday they had an Indian festival called Raki where sisters will tie bracelets onto their brothers as a sign of respect and love and in return, the brother will give them really nice gifts and treat them like a queen for the day and they promise to protect them forever. It's such a nice tradition.
We got bracelets made with the brother's names that we're teaching and gave them out which was fun!

Went to church yesterday and found out I was the chorister in sacrament meeting, then because they saw me chorister in sacrament meeting I also did it in Relief Society. I'm glad I've already had some practising in choristering!
Sister Joseph is a member of Munirka ward and she always knows where all the food is on a Sunday which is great because she always brings me along with her! Last Sunday it was because of her that we found out about a secret gathering that happens every week where brother Kamalakaren brings food for the people in the group to eat. We're now apart of this V.I.P club. Except for yesterday, we went to the secret room after church and no one was there then brother Kamalakaren told us that he didn't make any food because sister Kajol said she'd make it this week but she forgot! He say's he's never going to trust anyone else to make the food again haha.

One month done and dusted!

Hello!

My first trainer Sister Badde has now left and I got join her in the exit dinner with President which apparently never happens so that was fun! Except that we had an appointment straight after, so I had two dinners that night and you can't even believe how full I was!

I'm now being trained by Sister Ramu, but it doesn't really feel like I’m being trained because I’m the one in charge and leading the area now with Sister Badde gone and with Sister Ramu never serving in my area before so that's fun.

We were crossing the road and we made it halfway across and we were just waiting for a car to pass so we could cross and then we look to the right and there's this car on the wrong side of the road heading straight for us and we were like ahh because it wasn't safe to cross yet and it wasn't very safe to stand still either haha but it all worked out fine and we made it across safely.

We found a new person to teach and her name is Jhanavi and she is so sweet! She has this adorable little puppy named Bella and it's only six weeks old so it's this tiny little thing and I love it so much! She has her own family religion and some heavy traditions like only being allowed to cut your hair once a year and then you put that hair on their goddess as extensions and when they're a baby they go to their temple and get a tattoo of their family symbol carved into them with a knife and then it's injected with ink they grow and make themselves. She seems excited to learn about our religion though and calls us her friends and when we gave her a Book of Mormon she was so eager to read it and was like I’m gonna finish it in two days!

Sister Jhanavi can read a person through their handwriting and I was writing in the Book of Mormon I gave her and then she was like wow you have beautiful handwriting and then she said I was very independent because my handwriting was straight and not crooked and that I have a clear purpose and plan of where I’m going but that I get scared when I have a lot of responsibility placed on me. She also said that I was stressed and had tensions about something because I was writing very heavily, and my words were clearly pressed into the paper so that you could read it on the other side. Not all true but it was cool how the way you write can mean different things.

We had district finding in SN Markets this week and usually when people try and sell you things they never leave you alone but if you give them a free English class flier they stop following you straight away haha so there's a handy hint to remember for next time.

I don't think I look that completely different and stand out heaps but apparently, I do because this lady came up to me and asked for a selfie with me haha never had that happen before

The power cut out in church a few times and when it cuts out it's pitch black and it's like no one even notices because they just carry on with their talk or whatever as if nothing’s happened. The funny part was when it happened for the first time while we were singing choose the right and then we got to the last line of the chorus which sings choose the right and God will bless you ever more then the lights turned back on haha we all chose the right by coming to church that day so God blessed us and turned the power back on.

Best Mission President ever!

Hello!

We went out finding one day and we walked past this weird festivity thing. There were these guys with these really long spear things in the side of their cheeks and it was very disturbing!

These little girls came up to us and were begging for money and they kept tugging on me and following us, they even crossed the road when we did. We wanted to cross the road again but they blocked the path and wouldn't let us pass. Sister Badde gave them a Plan of Salvation pamphlet and while they were distracted we quickly ran across the road. It's pretty sad but apparently little kids like that work for the Mafia and their job is to go out and beg for money and then bring it all back to the Mafia President.

I'm pretty sure our Mission President, President Hansen is the best Mission President ever! We got a call from him saying that he was coming to our apartment to do a survey. When we opened the door him and his son was standing outside the door with a bouquet of flowers for each of the Sisters. He was like here's some flowers for each one of you beautiful Sisters! It was the sweetest thing ever.

I had my first Zone Conference on Saturday with Elder and Sister Evans. It was really good! The whole Conference was focused on finding and how we can more effectively find and have the faith to find and that as we put our trust in the Lord we'll know what to say when we open our mouths.

On Sunday I woke up feeling really sick like I was going to vomit or something but I still had to go to Sacrament Meeting as Sister Badde had her farewell talk and so I went and I thought I was just gonna vomit in the chapel. I had talked with Sister Hansen and I ended up just going back to the apartment and sleeping all day. I finally felt better by the night. But then I woke up this morning and I see these bite marks on the back of my leg and then this massive black bruise and I have no idea where a bruise like that came from so I reckon I was probably feeling so sick because some bug bit me or something.

My trainer Sister Badde goes home tomorrow so my new trainer is coming tonight. Her name is Sister Ramu and she's real great! Thing is that I have to be the one that knows the area now and I'm like ah I've only been here for like three weeks and the streets all still look the same so wish me luck that I'll be able to find people's homes!

Namaste

Namaste!

On the trains they have ladies only carriages and all the signs for it are pink and the seats are all pink and it's super cute! On the normal carriages, there are usually seats reserved for people with disabilities and stuff but there are seats reserved on the trains for women!

The last P-day we bought some chicken and the place smells so bad, I stood as far away as possible like all the way around the corner. It smells so bad because they have live chickens there and then they kill them, chop them up and you buy that!
I also saw a nice park which had grass! first time I've seen and walked on grass since being here!
Went to Joseph's home for FHE, they're members and they found out I LOVE pappadums so they made some for me! First time I've had them since being here and it made me so happy!

I taught my first missionary handbook thought in District Council, it was on studying and that was fun. Munirka and Vasant Vihar districts went out for lunch together after at Ambience mall, my favourite place to go!

I had my first exchange this week with the STL Sister Ramu. It's kinda like a sleepover haha I went to her area and to all her appointments and stayed the night because it's for 24hrs. It was fun, she'd always find flowers to put in my hair and she gave me chocolate! I crave chocolate, ice cream and everything sweet here haha I must always need energy for all the walking we have to do here so instead of gaining weight on my mission I'm losing it haha.

Okay so! They have these things called He-she's and they're a guy dressed up as a girl and they walk around to all the cars when they're stopped in traffic asking for money. So I was talking to Sister Ramu facing the other way and it scared me so much because suddenly I heard this loud clapping right next to me and I turn around and there's like a guy standing there and I'm like wow. We just told him we didn't have any money and he walked off but apparently, you can get some really mean and annoying ones who don't leave you alone and then they curse you. I hope I don't ever get cursed!

We had district English finding and we were discussing who would hold up the banner and who'd hand out fliers and they were all like you aren't holding the banner you're our secret weapon, you're white and a sister haha. Apparently, I'm really fast in handing out all my fliers and I always turn around saying I'm out and they just roll their eyes haha. In the end, Elder Riess (AP)and I played a game where he'd try and hand out a flier and if they rejected him I'd try and give my flier to them and they'd always accept it from me and be really interested in it haha.

I find it so funny how here they don't eat beef right because cows are sacred and you can get fined for hurting them so at Burger King and Maccas and stuff the whole menu is just chicken but just with it cooked different ways and with different flavours haha.

We had a zone activity for our P-day this week and we all went bowling and then got KFC! It was fun! I also got some ice cream that I've always wanted to try where it's like this frozen ice cream sheet and it's made into thin rolls. They make it in front of you and I had a rose cream flavour so it was pink with this pink drizzle over the top and it tasted so good!!!

Have an awesome week!!

Second week!

Hey hey!

Last Monday was my first P-Day! I just emailed at a computer place, you have to pay to email here every week.
Then my district and missionaries from another district all had lunch together and we had a cake for Sister Joshua saying goodbye as she's leaving soon!
We went to SN markets. It reminded me of Hong Kong with everyone just following you around trying to sell you stuff and you say you don't want anything but they still just stand there trying to sell stuff to you.
Had an FHE at a families home which was fun because they speak really good English!!!

On Tuesday I had my first District Council, I lead the music for it.
I had my orientation and training for all the new missionaries.
Had Maccas for lunch.
Every Tuesday night we go to the free English classes the native English speaking missionaries teach. It's always Elders teaching but now I'm here and so I'll have to teach some classes which should be fun!
Our district went out for dinner, Elder Jorgenson's shout! We went to a shopping centre and it was so nice! It's just like a normal shopping centre at home. To enter though you have to go through the same sort of security they have at airports haha it's the same thing for train stations too. Inside they always have guards walking around with guns.
It was so cute! The first shop I see was this adorable little ice cream shop and it was called Olivia!!! New favourite ice cream place.

Our Mission is hopefully becoming a smartphone mission which would be so good!

I was just walking along the street and then this guy runs up from behind and like quickly bites my wrist or smells it or something and then runs off again. I screamed and I was like what just happened!? Funny though because my scream got peoples attention and so we got some potential people to teach from that!

I tried momos for the first time! They're like these dumpling things that are only in New Delhi and they're pretty good!

Fun fact, my companion always holds my hand when we cross the road just to be on the safe side haha.

It's been raining a bit here and so everything is just a giant puddle.

I had my first ward correlation meeting which was good except the ward mission leader said if anyone is late they have to buy everyone lunch or dinner so I better not be late!

I had been wanting chocolate all day and the STL's had been at our apartment and so I came home to a cute note and CHOCOLATE! Blessings!

We went to a person's home and he read our palms! Apparently, if someone says something mean about me i'm just like meh whatever and i don't take any notice of it.

Elder Mekala is gone for a few weeks but the last mean thing he did was when we were doing district English finding where we hold up a big banner and handout fliers and it's fun! Anyway! we walked past this food that I've seen everywhere and i'm like what is that and he's like do you want to try one and i was like okay. It's like this thin shell thing with this liquid stuff inside and it's so gross! He was like have another flavour its better and i was like whatever and it was even worse than the first one! I thought i was going to vomit, it was so hard to swallow. Then you know what i find out! The liquid is cow urine!

On Sunday i woke up to the beautiful sound of my companion telling me i have a 7 minute talk an hour before church starts. Lucky though i only had to give my testimony but then we go to gospel principles class and guess who finds out they are teaching on the spot! Me! It actually went good though, me and my companion did a good job.
